Lanzarote´s Best Villas and Hotels
What´s the best accommodation choice for anyone visiting Lanzarote this summer? This popular holiday island offers a number of options encompassing all price ranges, from small studios to luxury hotels.
Lanzarote is one of the seven islands known collectively as the Canaries. Which can all be found in the Atlantic Ocean some 90 miles from the coastline of West Africa. They are located close to the Tropic of Cancer and enjoy a dry and arid semi tropical climate as a result. Making it possible to enjoy holidays here in both the winter and the summer. The bulk of holidays in Lanzarote are booked by tourists from the UK – with the British making up over half of all foreign tourist arrivals on the island.
FLIGHTS TO LANZAROTE depart from UK airports on every day of the week, although the main changeover days remain Thursdays and Mondays. Whilst the island is also very popular with tourists from countries such as Germany and Eire too.
For the widest range of HOTELS IN LANZAROTE it is best to head down to the southern end of the island and the resort of Playa Blanca. Which has rapidly expanded from its original incarnation as a small fishing village into Lanzarote´s second most popular holiday destination.
The resort is also home to some of the most luxurious HOLIDAY VILLAS IN LANZAROTE too. However this is by no means the most popular resort on Lanzarote. As this title belongs to Puerto del Carmen, which is where the first visitors to the island would have stayed when package holidays to Lanzarote were sold back in the early 1970´s. Puerto del Carmen has recently received a large cash injection of over 16 million Euros – as the local tourist board strives to maintain its competiveness versus newer destinations such as Turkey and Egypt. With much of this money spent on the creation of a new seafront promenade and a luxury marina in the Old town harbour area.
The third main resort on Lanzarote is called Costa Teguise – and this is located to the north of the airport at Arrecife. This is a quieter and more family orientated destination and an ideal spot for anyone planning a relaxing break on the island. With plenty of beachfront hotels and villas available in and around areas such as Playa Flamingo and Playa Cucharas. Much of the resort was developed with the assistance of the local artist César Manrique and has a very stylish feel as a result.
